CESR & Christian Aid are looking for a Media Consultant

We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced media consultants to assist the Center for Economic and Social Rights (CESR) and Christian Aid in securing media coverage for the reform of the International Financial Architecture (IFA).

CESR and Christian Aid are collaborating to promote a transformation of the dominant economic system towards a Rights-Based Economy that prioritizes people and the planet. A crucial part of this work is advocating for a shift in the world’s financial architecture—the framework of institutions, policies, rules, and practices that govern the global financial system. For decades, civil society has shown how these structures perpetuate inequalities, exploit the planet, and structurally exclude marginalized communities from economic decision-making.

In recent years, world leaders have strengthened calls for these reforms, including governance reforms of the IMF and World Bank, and started initiatives that shift decision-making power away from these fundamentally undemocratic institutions. We seek a media consultant to elevate the importance of public discourse on democratizing global economic decision-making among government officials, IFI staff, and other international policymakers and shapers. The consultant will work to shape and support public-facing messaging and generate strategic media coverage on issues of global economic architecture transformation targeting international policy audiences in the global North and South. The consultant will leverage media access in key influential outlets to achieve this goal.

Consultant’s Role:

The selected consultant will be responsible for:

  1. Generating stories and thought leadership pieces highlighting the necessity of IFA and  IMF reform.
  2. Identifying and targeting key media outlets to influence global economic policymakers and  shape public discourse on global architecture issues.
  3. Identifying data and other resources needed to create compelling stories and liaising with CESR and Christian Aid to obtain them.
  4. Working with high-profile commentators to produce high-quality thought leadership pieces for publication and supporting spokespeople in their media engagements with sound guidance.
  5. Collaborating with our team to develop a media strategy and timeline for disseminating content.
  6. Build relationships with media outlets and maintain an active presence in relevant media ecosystems.
  7. Advising on the integration of digital content and social media strategies.
