The Hesperian Foundation
The Hesperian Foundation promotes health and self determination in poor communities worldwide by making health information accessible. Hesperian publications are written simply and include many illustrations so people with little formal education can understand, apply and share medical information.
Institute of Medicine
The Institute of Medicine was chartered in 1970 as a component of the National Academy of Sciences. The IOM's mission is to serve as adviser to the nation to improve health. The Institute provides unbiased, evidence-based, and authoritative information and advice concerning health and science policy to policy-makers, professionals, leaders in every sector of society, and the public at large.
International Healthy Cities Foundation
The term "Healthy Cities" means that health is the result of much more than medical care; people are healthy when they live in nurturing environments and are involved in the life of their community. THe movement began with the World Health Organization. The IHCF facilitates linkages among people, issues and resources in order to support the development of Healthy Cities initiatives.

Partners In Health (PIH) works in Latin America, the Caribbean, Russia, and the United States. PIH establishes long-term relationships with sister organizations to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need of them.
Physicians for Human Rights
Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) promotes health by protecting human rights. PHP believes that human rights are essential preconditions for the health and well-being of all people. Using medical and scientific methods, they investigate and expose violations of human rights worldwide and work to stop them.
Project EINO
Project EINO, short for "Everybody In, Nobody Out", is an internet project that supports state organizations working at the grassroots level for universal health care.
Right to Health Care
The mission of the RightToHealthCare.org is to provide educational resources and a forum for discussion on the concept of a "Right to Health Care". This educational work includes the history and philosophy of the concept and its relation to other human rights, legal documentation and argumentation, the geography of work on the "Right to Health Care", the relation of this concept to other work in US health care reform and international perspectives. This project is operated by Project EINO (see above link).
World Health Organization
The World Health Organization is the United Nations specialized agency for health. It was established on 7 April 1948. WHO's objective, as set out in its Constitution, is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health. Health is defined in WHO's Constitution as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
