Co-designing and Threat-modeling Accountability Tools for Restricted Civic Spaces: the Egypt Social Progress Indicators Platform

CESR staffers will be at #RightsCon next week in Tunis and on June 13th will host a session on "Co-designing and Threat-modeling Accountability Tools for Restricted Civic Spaces."

"Co-designing and Threat-modeling Accountability Tools for Restricted Civic Spaces," held at the Palais de Congrès Room Biscay, from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m., will feature CESR's collaborative platform, the Egypt Social Progress Indicators (ESPI), in the context of Democracy and Conflict and Shrinking Civic Spaces in MENA.

Organizers will share observations from and discuss challenges related to the multi-year process of designing ESPI, a rights-based accountability tool, with members of the tech and human rights community. Participants will learn about the stakeholder-driven design that centers threat modeling priorities at its heart, the needs and solutions put in place to ensure ESPI’s sustainability, and partners' security working in the difficult political climate of Egypt. Participants will also hear about working with economic and social rights measuring methodologies and data visualization.

The session will invite participants to interact with the team behind ESPI, its technology, and risk and methodology advisors in order to spur conversations around ESPI's data processes and advocacy efforts and to explore potential collaborations.
